Kurt Huber was born in Chur, Switzerland, on 24th October, 1893. Four years later his family moved to Stuttgart, Germany. Both his parents were educators, scholars and talented musicians. As a child, Huber had suffered from diphtheria and surgeons had performed an emergency operation, cutting his throat. According to Yvonne Sherratt the "after-effects of the illness and the traumatic treatment had never left him... his hands always trembled... except when he played piano, then he was able to lose himself in the concentration required at the keyboard." |
